First of all, I want to thank everyone who made the Kickstarter a huge success – to the backers, Ben Model, and to everyone who helped spread the word about the Tom Tyler Silent Film Collection Kickstarter.
As of today, Friday, May 24, 2024, there are still nine days left to go with the Kickstarter, so if you would like to be among the first to receive a Blu-ray of “The Man from Nevada” and “Law of the Plains”, both from 1929, you have time to make a pledge until June 2, 2024, 5:54 PM Eastern Time.
Backers of this Kickstarter will receive regular updates on the progress of the project directly through the Kickstarter site. As stated in the Kickstarter pitch, December 2024 is the expected date for the completion of the Blu-ray. This project is certainly timely enough, for it marks Tom Tyler’s 100-year anniversary since he started appearing in bit roles in Hollywood, such as Elinor Glyn’s “Three Weeks” (1924).
Finally, Tom Tyler fan G. Michael Dobbs is in the process of writing a book about Tom. Unlike the 2005 biography written by Mike Chapman, the new book will be about Tom’s unique film career as a leading man in B-westerns from the silent film era through the 1930’s, plus his supporting roles in A-films like “The Talk of the Town” (1942) and of course “Stagecoach” (1939).
